Preschool Overview
At St. Timothy's Lutheran Preschool we offer each child a nurturing, developmental, and Christ-centered education. We provide a well-rounded, academic curriculum that includes: Pre-reading, writing & phonics instruction; mathematics & science; daily art projects; music; library and story time; worship & chapel; special events and so much more. Children explore the world around them through the integration and celebration of weekly themes and hands-on instruction. We inspire our young children to be life-long learners who live their faith. We believe that Preschool is a joyful time to be a child!
Philosophy
At St. Timothy's we believe that children grow and learn best in a developmental, hands-on environment. We believe in a strong balance between academic, social and play activities to ensure a love of learning and a well-rounded young child. It is our hope that all children who come to St. Timothy's will learn to love God, to treat others with kindness, to live their faith, and to celebrate and embrace what they have learned.
Preschool 3's
Our Preschool 3's program provides our youngest students with an introduction to school in a loving, supportive classroom environment. For many of our young three year old students, this may be their very first school experience. Some children may enter the classroom eagerly, while others may be hesitant or shy. It is our goal at St. Timothy's to meet the unique needs of each child, and to gently guide them through their preschool experience. We honor each child's differences, gifts and abilities. Our developmentally appropriate program gives our 3's an opportunity to grow, learn and socialize through hands-on art, music, mathematics, phonics, faith and dramatic play. Our Pre-3's participate in structured circle and small group activities, as well as child-directed games, toys and play time. Our three year olds learn to interact well with others, to share with friends, to show kindness and to walk with Jesus. It is our hope that all of our Pre-3's have a positive, loving first school experience.
Preschool 4's
Our Preschool 4's program is designed to thoughtfully prepare our young students for Kindergarten, all in a loving, Christian classroom environment. Children in our Pre-4's classes participate in structured activities in the areas of pre-reading, speaking and writing instruction, small and gross motor development, mathematics, science, faith and music. Circle time may often include a more in-depth discussion about the week's theme, the Bible lesson presented, alphabet letters or mathematics. Our Pre-4's teachers enhance learning through both large and small group instruction. Small group activities give teachers an opportunity to provide one-on-one instruction, and to carefully access student progress. Teachers reinforce age-appropriate social and behavioral expectations. Children are taught to work cooperatively and independently, to follow directions, to listen attentively and to interact well with peers and adults. Our students are taught to pray thoughtfully, to follow Christ's example, and to think of others. It is our hope that all of our Preschool 4's will feel confident and well prepared academically, spiritually, socially and emotionally, for their next school experience and beyond.
