Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”  John 14:27

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”  Philippians 4:7

The Bible is filled with lots of places where we are called to have “Peace”.  So it should be easy right?   Mmm… but right now?…it is especially hard to do.  If you are like me, my mind is taking me to all kinds of places; from the uncertainty of how long we will be in this “Shelter in Place” order, to what will happen with the financial implications, to concern over my parents, to fear for those who are ill, and how can I help and be a source of light during this crazy time we are facing, balancing both wisdom and love.

Yet, God calls us to have peace – but not the peace as we know it – but His peace.  The peace He brought through the flesh of Jesus that walked on this earth, the peace that died out of pure grace- freeing us from our sins – that resurrected in a new body that gave witness to our new life eternally with Him, that glimpse of Heaven, His Kingdom on earth.  And yes my friends, that Peace, that passes all understanding, is the peace that will fill you with hope, security, confidence in the future, and in God’s great and eternal love for each of us.

So as we “pass the peace” with each other (via text, facetime, group chats etc – keeping our social distance of course), let us be reminded that God is bigger than all of this, and that the Holy Spirit, which is working within us, has the power to tap into that beautiful and perfect place of peace that lives in each of our hearts.

Peace be with you…
