Flawless

“If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7

The darkness is tempting. It is secluded and private and even can be comfortable. It tricks us into thinking our sin is hidden. Lingering in it brings about despair, judgement, anger, and even shame. Yet Jesus has called us to him, called us out of the darkness. Jesus has purified us through his death and invites us to walk in His light, to come out of the darkness and live out His truth. He wants us to fellowship with one another and with him in the light. He wants us to shine His light in the lives of those around us.

A song can shine light on our soul and can ignite us, heal us, and bring about a shift in our point-of-view. It can change our attitude and mindset. The right song warms our heart, makes us dance, and brings the joy of worship to life.

The group MercyMe landed in my hands when my faith was weak. I had turned away from God and into darkness and despair, but I was slowly retracing my steps back to Jesus and his light. All I saw, at the time, were my imperfections, bumps, bruises, scars–all the ways I fall short of what Jesus has asked of me. Maybe while we are sheltering-in-place, that is all you see of yourself, that glaring log in your own eye or even the speck of dust in the eyes of those you are sheltering with
.
However. That is not all Jesus sees. He sees us washed clean in His blood. He sees me as flawless. He sees you as flawless too.
No matter how deep the wound. No matter how many times it reopens. No matter. The cross has made you flawless. Celebrate what Jesus has done for us this Easter season–made us flawless. Take a few minutes today to sing along with MercyMe’s Flawless.
