Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. -James 4:8

Just after the pandemic started and the shelter in place order was given, the Lord saw fit to land me at a new job working for Facebook. Of course this was a blessing and at the same time, as a “FBNoob,” my time would be filled to the brim. Unlike the start of previous jobs, I took the time to pray that the Lord would allow time in each day for time spent with God, fellowship with my church family, and the opportunity to continue serving others. During my time between positions I had filled my week with church meetings over zoom during the pandemic. Well I’m happy to report that the Lord answered that prayer and then some.

Even with a new time demanding job, I’ve been able to keep all of my Christian meetings and even add a Friday Bible study. Why am i still surprised when God answers my prayers? Anyone else still have those “aha! Moments” where God shows up? It’s always interesting when you look back at an answer to prayer. One of the silver linings of the pandemic is that my daily commute time was substituted by the opportunity to spend additional time finishing work and in church zoom meetings.

Indeed as James states: our loyalties are divided between the world and God, but it sure is nice to strive for and feel a bit more balanced. So thank you God for prayer circle, grow groups, Cornerstone, all the weekly opportunities to spend time in your word with our St Timothy’s family.
