“You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth.  You will restore me to even greater honor and comfort me once again.” Psalm 71:20-21

With God, there is always an “again.” How lovely that we have this promise, this reassurance of renewal and hope, that no matter what, our God is faithful. We are continually reminded of this throughout Biblical history and the many times God showed mercy, over and over again… Yet whenever your people turned and cried to you again for help, you listened once more from heaven. In your wonderful mercy, you rescued them many times!” Nehemiah 9:28. Pastor Jonna reminded us in her sermon that scripture reveals the heart of God. We may not be able to comprehend the magnitude and depth of the mind of God or understand why some things happen the way they do, but we can trust God’s heart and faithfulness. This heart that continually loves us, and through Jesus, we are promised that nothing will ever separate us from this love…. “Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.”

I recently experienced a medical scare which took me to a place of uncertainly and fear.  As I was waiting for test results, a friend just so happened to return a devotional book I lent her over a year ago and dropped it on my doorstep.  As I reached to open the book, there was a thank you note tucked inside right where the reference to this scripture from Psalms was “…but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth…and comfort me once again”.   And there it was, as if God was speaking to me personally, my reminder of God’s “again”, of his faithfulness in my life.  As it turned out, my test results came back fine – Praise God.

With God, there is always an “again”. How lovely that we have this promise.
