“Walking with God”

Philippians 4:13: I am able to do all things through Him who strengthens me.

How is your walk with God going right now? We are over four months into sheltering in place with many more months to go. Lots of time for reflection. Are you finding time in your day to listen for and hear God’s voice of encouragement and love? During my daily morning walks I’ve gotten into the habit of showing my gratefulness to Him. I thank Him for the new day, for His love, for His grace, for my family and friends, for my health. I ask Him to watch over family or friends that may really need His help right now. I ask forgiveness for my sins.

It is during these walks that I have felt His presence. Sometimes, not very often, God will speak to me, offering me wisdom, encouragement or discernment. It has sparked real moments of joy.  I have been reading The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence. He lived in the 1600’s in a Catholic religious order in France. Brother Lawrence said, “If we would enjoy the peace of paradise even within this life, we must accustom ourselves to a familiar, humble and affectionate conversation with Him. We must stop our spirit from wandering away from Him upon any occasion. We must make our heart a spiritual temple where we adore Him incessantly.” Profound words and challenging ones.

Dear Heavenly Father, You are an awesome God. We know we can do all things with your grace which You never refuse to those who ask for it earnestly. Help us to speak to you frankly, plainly, as we ask for your help in all things. In Jesus name, Amen.
